Are you interested in international travel, research, and teaching opportunities? If so, please join this MIAD “common hour” presentation to learn more about the Fulbright Program. This prestigious international academic exchange program has an ambitious goal — to increase mutual understanding and support friendly and peaceful relations between the people of the United States and the people of other countries. There are many opportunities for artists, designers, and scholars! The Fulbright US Student Program provides post-graduate opportunities that may be of interest to MIAD students and recent graduates and the Fulbright US Scholar Program provides a variety of opportunities for faculty and staff.

We are pleased to host the following session at MIAD by Kate Copeland, an artist, educator, and Fulbright Alumni Ambassador based in Portland, Oregon:

Monday, March 24 from 11:15 – 12:15 in MIAD room 299Q
In this first session, Kate will share information about her own experiences as a Fulbright Scholar to India (2013) and Belgium (2022). During these two Fulbright programs, Kate did research, made artwork, and worked with students and colleagues in art colleges. She’ll share photos and stories about her experiences working with printmaking and antique photographic processes at The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda in India, Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp in Belgium, Industriemuseum (Museum of Industry) in Ghent, Belgium … and beyond. She’ll also discuss some of her considerations as a queer parent traveling with an elementary-age child during her second Fulbright.
