We are pleased to announce we are now accepting applications for the 4th Cycle of the Independent Inquiry Program, hosted by the Lubar Emerging Technology Center. Below is more information about the upcoming info sessions and application workshops. Please keep in mind that the info session and workshops are highly recommended for anyone interested in applying. We have recorded info sessions and workshops from previous cycles available on the IIP website for students to review at their own pace.

ABOUT THE INDEPENDENT INQUIRY PROGRAM:
The Independent Inquiry Program provides MIAD students the opportunity to gain experience as paid researchers while contributing to institutional knowledge regarding how emerging technology intersects with creative practice.

The program pays students to conduct specific inquiries relating to topics under the umbrella of emerging technology. Payments range from $1200 for a six week inquiry to $3000 for a 15 week inquiry.

You can get more details about the program on the IIP website.

UPCOMING INFO SESSION:
The Emerging Technology Center (room 440) will be hosting an IN PERSON info session Wednesday, November 19th from 11:15am – 12:15pm. We will go over the application process, current open questions & topics, and have time for a Q & A. There is a recording available from a previous cycle, but we highly encourage interested students to attend the live session on the 19th so they can ask us questions.

APPLICATION WORKSHOPS (Pre-recorded & live session!):
We have 3 recorded workshops from a previous cycle that explain components of the IIP application in further depth. Links to the recordings are at the bottom of this page. We highly encourage all interested applicants to watch these videos for further guidance on each part of the application.

Additionally, we will have an in person co-working session on December 4th (the day before applications are due!) from 11:15am – 12:15pm in the ETC (room 440). This is a great opportunity to ask questions about your application, brainstorm with other applicants, and get IIP faculty and staff feedback on your application.
