R2 is the official, juried literary journal for MIAD students! R2 is published to showcase the range and vibrance of creative writing and art produced by MIAD students for classes and in the course of their own creative practice.

The submission period for the fall issue is August 1-October 16. This issue of R2 will be published in December with a launch party performance for contributors, where guest editor Jackie Valadez will award the fall 2026 River Rat Prizes in Poetry and Prose.
Be sure to check out past issues of R2 at miad.edu/r2 for an idea of some of the pieces of we’ve published in the past. And if your writing or art is totally different from anything we’ve seen before, especially give it a try and submit — we love to look at new, innovative work!
