Join Professors Kate Schaffer and Jason Yi for a The Burren, Ireland information session Monday, September 28th at 11:15.
This month-long interdisciplinary summer course invites students to explore the Burren –a uniquely rugged limestone terrain on Ireland’s Atlantic coast — and town of Ballyvaughan through the lens of art, cultural memory, and landscape perception. Inspired by Irish writer Brian Dillon’s reflections on the subtle power of aesthetic attention, students will investigate how history, ecology, and myth leave their marks in visible ways. The program is based at the Burren College of Art in County Clare on the West Coast of Ireland, at the site of a restored 16th century castle. This program is particularly appropriate for students interested in fine arts-related studio electives.
